Book Review Policy

The Reader and the Chef is currently accepting review requests! We prefer Print books but also accept digital/audiobook copies from time to time. We are also open for author interviews, guest posts, and will consider joining blog tours! If you are interested to host a giveaway or collaborate for a post on our Bookstagram account, check out our Bookstagram blog page for more details. :)

Note that if you send us a print copy we'll also promote in our bookstagram account @thereaderandthechef which has over 14k followers and on @yabookscentral with over 6k followers. However, please keep in mind that we live in Mexico. :)

Please read our likes and dislikes before sending us your review request.

What we like:

Young Adult novels (both indie and traditional) in different genres: Fantasy, Contemporary, Historical Fiction, Dystopian, Paranormal, etc. A few examples of our favorite reads:
  • The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa
  • Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
  • The Malediction Trilogy by Danielle L. Jensen
  • The Goddess Test series by Aimée Carter
  • Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
  • Geekerella by Ashley Poston
  • Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
We also read from time to time Children's, Middle Grade. Comic Books, and New Adult books. Note that in New Adult books we don't like Erotica, it makes us uncomfortable, sorry!  Kissing and barely there steamy scenes are alright.

We own a Kindle and a Kobo Glo e-reader so we can read both .mobi and .epub formats. If you would like to send us a physical book for review (we live in Mexico), please email us to ask for our address.

About our reviews:

Melissa (the reader)
I'm an avid reader who likes to talk about books. All my reviews are my honest thoughts and I, in no way, intend to offend the author. I'm not usually mean or harsh because I don't believe this is the right way to talk about a book. I'll just state what I liked in them and what didn't do it for me.

Reviews will be posted here, on Goodreads and on Amazon (sometimes on Barnes & Noble and Kobo if author/publisher desires). I'll also promote them via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Note: Melissa (that's me!) is the main reviewer of The Reader and the Chef, but you have to know that my sister (a.k.a. The Chef) will have access to the titles sent to me and might be the one to review a few of them if I consider I won't be able to read them sooner.

For review requests, email us at: (you can address it to Melissa).

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
