The Week's Entrée #123

Hi everyone! Welcome to another edition of The Week's Entrée!

GUESS WHAT, GUYS?! I JOINED NANOWRIMO!!!!!

I'll be co-writing a YA Fantasy book with my friend Becky of Book Nerd Addict and I am so, so excited about it. We announced this on Twitter a few days ago and we are beyond grateful (and surprised!) of all the wonderful support & cheers we've received from our friends. Wish me luck ♥♥♥ and also good luck to you if you are also participating!

Another great set of news is that the blog reached 2K followers on Instagram (@thereaderandthechef)!!! My sister & I are so happy about this. Bookstagram is such a creatively fun outlet, and we love every minute of it. Thanks for all of your support!

With that said, don't forget to enter our October Haul INTL giveaway that ends TONIGHT at midnight.  Click on the image to take you there. ;)

Latest review on YABC:

I reviewed We Are Still Tornadoes by Michael Kun & Susan Mullen on YA Books Central

When I first read this book, I have to admit that I didn't like it as much as my reading buddy )or everyone else on Goodreads for that matter). There were so many things that didn't sit well with me, and thus this book left me in quite a ragey mood. However, after thinking about it after a few days, my feels for the book changed. I still don't LOVE it, but I do think I like it. It is a sweet read and funny, and well, I guess that I just fell too much inside the MCs problems and took them as my own. Idk, I'm confused, but I do know that I like it more than how I initially felt about it, if that makes sense. :)

Here's the book's summary:

Growing up across the street from each other, Scott and Cath have been best friends their entire lives. Cath would help Scott with his English homework, he would make her mix tapes (it's the 80's after all), and any fight they had would be forgotten over TV and cookies. But now they've graduated high school and Cath is off to college while Scott is at home pursuing his musical dreams.

During their first year apart, Scott and Cath's letters help them understand heartache, annoying roommates, family drama and the pressure to figure out what to do with the rest of their lives. And through it all, they realize that the only person they want to turn to is each other. But does that mean they should be more than friends? The only thing that's clear is that change is an inescapable part of growing up. And the friends who help us navigate it share an unshakable bond.

OMG, I said it on Twitter and I'll say it again here--I think I died and went to eARC heaven! HarperTeen approved me to read 4 of these amazing titles and I love them so much for it. I don't even know which one to read first! So so excited to read Literally and Hunted and Spindle Fire and By Your Side. These books should be on your TBR because they sound super amazing!

Oh, and the lovely Stephanie Scott managed to get me approved (after they denied my request *cries*) for an eARC of Alterations! SO EXCITED TO READ IT. LIKE SO SO EXCITED. This book comes out on December 6th so I'll be reading it this week. :D

{Purchased/Gift}

And huge thanks to our parents for bringing us these books from their latest trip. These are totally random books, but they are extra special for us since we didn't ask them to bring us any books, but they did. ♥

WHEW. HAUL OVER.

To Read This Week:

I finally grabbed my copy of The Drowning of Arthur Braxton and it's interesting so far. It has lots of British slang and I like that :D. Next up is Alterations because I cannot wait anymore to read it. ♥

And that's it for The Week's Entrée!  What are you all reading? :)
