The 7 Deadly Book Sins

Hey everyone! My name's Sydney from Sydsaurus and I am so excited to be here on Melissa's blog (thanks girl for hosting me! Xo)

So as the title suggests, I'll be telling you guys my top 7 Deadly Book Sins, basically bookish things that I do that are seen as "shameful" in the public eye. It's like bookish confession! Believe me some of you guys will be disappointed in me.

So let me stop talking and let me get to my book sins

Sin #1: I Have Never Read The Harry Potter Series

I know, it's so shocking even I gasped. I actually grew up in a very conservative Christian household and my mom didn't like the Harry Potter series so she never let me get them.

Now that I'm older, I really really want to pick it up, but I don't know what edition to get (book snob much? Haha) and I'm also very well known for procrastinating when it comes to reading popular books, oops!

Sin #2: I Was Totally And Completely Unable To Finish Reading The Fault In Our Stars

Okay so allow me to explain for this one right here: I rarely ever read contemporary. There are actually very few contemporary novels that have grabbed my attention long enough for me to finish them. When it came to TFIOS, I tried 3 separate times to read it and each time I couldn't get past chapter 2. I guess it just wasn't for me, but every time I tell someone I haven't read it and don't plan on it they say "Why not try one more time?" So to everyone who is about to comment that I say "No thanks, I'll stick with fantasy"

Sin #3: I Tend To Hide A Book I Want Somewhere In The Bookstore So I Can Come Back And But It

I don't think this needs an explanation other than yes I know, I am a terrible person. No, I will not stop

Sin #4: I Can't Marathon A Series

So this doesn't seem too bad of a sin, but to me it is! I love series and trilogies and duologies and everything in between, but I literally can't marathon anything. I try and try but *flails in frustration* Its like I get tired of the characters or I feel stuck in one world when I want to explore different worlds. I guess that's my only excuse at this point

Sin #5: I Count The Baby Books I Read To My Son On My Reading Challenge

For those of you who don't know, I have a 9-month old baby boy. I have quite a few books for him, not too many, but I try to read to him every night. So when I read it to him, in my logical mind, I read it so I can count it towards my challenge right? Right?!

Some people call that cheating but hey, there's no rules for the reading challenge so BOOM!!!

Sin #6: I Sometimes Judge A Book By Its Cover

I'm sure we all have done this. We're walking through the bookstore and we see a cover that just grabs us, so we buy it without hesitation or research only to read it and not like it at all. I have to admit, I have done this more than once, and sometimes I won't even look at a book if I don't like the cover. I've been getting much better though and I'm happy about that. Plus my shelves look hella sexy

Sin #7: I Am Absolutely Not Sorry For Any Of My Bookish Sins

Nope, I'm not. I firmly believe that we can read and love whatever books we want and despise and hate the books we want. No one should ever feel weird about the books their reading or not reading. No one should be called names or get any hate for whatever books they like, it's my life I do what I want with my books, my reading challenge and my shelves. And you should too!!

So there you have it! My 7 Deadly Book Sins that I'm willing to share! Thanks to Melissa for hosting me and thanks to all of you guys out there!
