That's What HE Said Thursday #27: Brett from Diamonds in the Rough

That's what HE said Thursday is a weekly meme hosted at Chapter Break where you post a favorite line of a book boyfriend to his girl. It's the perfect meme to share all those awesome quotes!

Today's quote is from Brett of Diamonds in the Rough by Michelle Madow!

Quote:

"You're right. Not that we can't be together, but that we can't know what will happen between us in the future. If we don't give this a chance, we'll never know. And I don't know about you, but I couldn't live with that. The only way to know is to try."

Brett to Courtney, Diamonds in the Rough

I loved this quote so much! Brett is such a sweetheart. Despite Courtney's attempts to keep him away for their own good, he never stops trying to be with her. He truly believes that their relationship is going to work and that no matter what people might say about them, he knows they can be happy. Their situation is a bit complicated since they are soon to be stepbrother and sister, but everyone knows that they are perfect for each other. If only Courtney would stop following the rules and start listening to her heart...

Anyway, Brett is my favorite boy from this book and an incredible book boyfriend. You must meet him soon!

  2. Brett does sound pretty incredible...too bad they are soon to be step-siblings. I like his go-get-em and make your own life attitude. Thanks for linking up!

  3. I've seen this one, and I wasn't interested. But I definitely am now. I love how he knows that they can't know the future, but that all they can do is try. It's much more mature than professing everlasting love right off the bad. The step-sibling thing is complicated, but he's right. They can only try. It's a bit similar to one of my recent faves, How We Fall by Kate Brauning, but that one takes it to a whole different level when it comes to complications.

    1. Yes, this is what I like about his character. He tells everything how it is, but tries to emphasize that in the end, it comes to them about their relationship working out. I can't remember ever hearing about How We Fall, I must check it out soon. :)

  4. Ooh cool quote. It is true though, you never know if you don't try.

    1. Yup! Better try than think about what could have happened... ;)
