The Week's Entrée #4

Love is in the air everybody! Valentine's day is approaching and we are very very very very excited. It's like, the most perfect excuse to stuff ourselves with chocolate and other heart shaped goodies.

So, what do we plan on doing on the blog to celebrate this special ocassion? Weeeeeell, we might have something planned, a small thing really that it may or may not involve The Chef and a book we have already featured here on the blog. Full details will be posted on Friday!

In other news...

My review for Redeeming the Deception of Grace by Kristin Vayden is now live over at Cuzinlogic! It's a short historical romance that's quite easy to fall in love with. If you want to check it out, click on the site's name and it will take you directly to the post.

Books I Bought, Won or Received:

Again, I didn't buy any books this week but I did won  2 books (I think) from #k8chat.

Gateway & Chasm (The Gateway Trilogy #2) by Christina Garner. This is a YA Paranormal Fantasy series with a touch of romance. Here's the blurb for the first book:

Ember has always known she doesn't belong in this world. But when she tries to correct the mistake, she wakes to find herself in a mental institution.
She's soon drawn to Taren, the mysterious boy with hazel eyes. He's not what he seems, but what is he?
When chaos erupts, they are forced to flee the institution together, and the secret that Taren has been keeping brings Ember closer to understanding her own. And leads her to... the Gateway.

I also got my first approval on Netgalley! Many thanks to Strange Chemistry (publisher) for accepting my request to view this book, pretty hypped about it!

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen
Expected publication: April 1st 2014
For those who have loved Seraphina and Graceling comes another truly fabulous fantasy...
For five centuries, a witch’s curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Cécile de Troyes is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined.
Cécile has only one thing on her mind after she is brought to Trollus: escape. Only the trolls are clever, fast, and inhumanly strong. She will have to bide her time, wait for the perfect opportunity.
But something unexpected happens while she’s waiting – she begins to fall for the enigmatic troll prince to whom she has been bonded and married. She begins to make friends. And she begins to see that she may be the only hope for the half-bloods – part troll, part human creatures who are slaves to the full-blooded trolls. There is a rebellion brewing. And her prince, Tristan, the future king, is its secret leader.
As Cécile becomes involved in the intricate political games of Trollus, she becomes more than a farmer’s daughter. She becomes a princess, the hope of a people, and a witch with magic powerful enough to change Trollus forever.

I also downloaded another book from Netgalley that literally made my day yesterday. I couldn't believe my eyes, ears and everything when I saw it as a special "Read Now" offer in celebration of Valentine's Day. I NEED to read it, that's why I'm putting it on the pile for this week. So...

To Read This Week:

The Statiscal Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. Having missed her flight, she's stuck at JFK airport and late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's sitting in her row.

A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more?

Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

And that's it for this edition of The Week's Entrée. What's on your plate for this week? Anything good planned as well?
